This month at Shadow Society - Amethyst After Dark

The theme this month is a tribute to the dark side of atmospheric electronica, and not just the typical stuff you hear at every other Goth club either.

If you guys haven't heard Nezzy Idy yet, go check out his profile, and web page. His music is completely bad ass, and dark, dark, dark!

Or you can just d-load this handy little compilation I uploaded for your listening pleasure: Amethyst After Dark - A Collection of Dark Trip-Hop / Darkwave and Electronica

Yeah unfortunately their co-founder passed away this year, so there won't likely be anymore albums from them. The last one was my favorite. It is fantastic from beginning to end! The track I included is my favorite one.

Where do you go after the club? If you're in SF, you can always get a ride from me later.

I live in San Leandro, so I'm stuck with BART. That's why I have to leave so early. Don't really want to be wandering around Oakland until the station opens again at 6:00 a.m...
You should talk to Dylan about the fustercluck we've gone through just to get me to his bday, oy vey.

"Virtually Hopeless" is still one of the best damn atmospheric electro tracks _ever_!

Absolutely agree. I love that song. Forma Tadre also had that sound on Navigator.

"Amethyst After Dark", wicked title! I really like the flyer too, nice aesthetic.

Downloading the comp now, thanks for having me on board!

Thanks man! I was really happy with this flier too. Glad you like the title. I think you'll dig the stuff on the comp. Let me know if you run into any problems d-loading it. Someone already told me it didn't work for them. If not I'll upload it somewhere else.

I still haven't heard it yet but the download worked fine for me. So far I've only listened to the TTA song after noticing your reply to djron1n. Very cool track. My girlfriend introduced them to me but I was surprised that this song sounded different than I remember them sounding.

It's a damn shame when good artists die. I guess that means we all have to work extra hard to pick up the slack.

Yeah that whole album is a drastic departure from their older material. I also suggest checking out stuff like Ulrich Schnauss, Zombi, Midnight Juggernauts (especially their song "Shadows"), The Presets, Cut Copy, etc. for more similar sounding stuff.

I like the presets a lot.

I saw them a few weeks ago and a band called the golden filter opened for them and they were great, very retro 80's, analog synth arpeggiations, pretty female vocals.

Another band I LOVE is Mt.Sims.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check out those bands.

This comp is brilliant. Thanks for sharing it!

East Bay is tough for me transportation-wise, but I'll see if I can make it out...this is my kinda stuff.

You're welcome! If it's a matter of getting back to SF, I'm sure I can help with that =)

Just let me know.
